The German ingredients group Döhler has made a significant move in the Mexican market with the opening of a new production plant in the State of Mexico. The facility, built in the Arco 57 Industrial Park in San Francisco Soyaniquilpan de Juárez, represents an investment of more than MXN 1.2 billion (US$64 million), according to Mexico Business News.

The plant produces natural ingredients and integrated solutions, including flavours and ingredient systems, for the food, beverage, and life science and nutrition sectors. Döhler has stated that the proprietary processes installed at the plant will allow it to produce higher-value natural ingredients for international markets. The output of the plant will primarily serve customers in the United States, Germany, Central America, the Caribbean, and Asia.

Speaking at the inauguration, Döhler Americas CEO Paul Graham highlighted the project's success in generating over 200 jobs since construction began. Graham emphasized the company's confidence in Mexico's industrial potential, according to Food Business Middle East & Africa.

## Natural colours line planned for phase two

A second phase is already underway, with new facilities dedicated to natural colours. This expansion aims to extend the company's manufacturing base in a market where demand for clean-label formulation continues to grow. Döhler has pointed to tightening regulatory frameworks across the Americas around nutritional profiles and ingredient transparency as a driver for locally produced natural ingredients.

By locating production and technical support closer to regional customers, the plant is intended to shorten delivery times and support faster product development. The company plans to draw on local raw materials and regional supply chains to serve customers across Latin America.

## A wider Americas buildout

The Mexico opening coincided with the launch of a new subsidiary, Döhler Canada, part of a broader push to expand the group's commercial footprint across North and Latin America. Earlier in 2026, Döhler expanded flavour production and innovation capacity at its facility in Cartersville, Georgia.

Founded in 1838 in Erfurt as a spice mill and now headquartered in Darmstadt, Döhler supplies natural ingredients, including a range of plant-based options, to food and beverage manufacturers in more than 160 countries. The group is an active investor in the alternative ingredients space, having participated in funding rounds for companies such as UK fermentation firm Clean Food Group through its Döhler Ventures unit.

The State of Mexico hosts a significant number of food manufacturing businesses, with over 31,000 companies employing over 146,000 people, according to the state's Ministry of Economic Development. Döhler entered the Mexican market in 2014, when it established Döhler Mexico as a hub for Central America, the United States, and Canada.
