Sogurt Returns to Holland Village After Four-Year Hiatus
Sogurt will open a 102-seat flagship store at One Holland Village in December 2026.

Sogurt is making a comeback. Founder Lee Li Ping revealed the frozen yogurt brand's return after closing all outlets in 2022, sharing the news via social media and an interview on October 14, 2026. The new flagship store is slated to open at One Holland Village in December. "I started Sogurt when I was 22," Lee said on social media. "And today, 16 years later, I'm telling you, the OG is coming back."
From Sogurt to Kara Cafe and back
The brand evolved from a university startup to 15 outlets, then consolidated into Kara Cafe before shutting in 2022. Lee Li Ping was 22 years old when she founded Sogurt as a university entrepreneurship project in 2010. The first outlet on Bukit Timah Road broke even within six months. Two more branches opened within a year. At its peak, Sogurt grew to 15 outlets across Singapore. The brand then scaled back after over-expansion as the froyo trend cooled. It consolidated into Lee’s first store, which rebranded as Kara Cafe in 2017 and finally shut in 2022. Since then, Sogurt has sold froyo ice cream pints online.
Lee spent months on research and development to reformulate recipes. Tart flavours are now made with real Greek yogurt. Greater attention is paid to protein content and macronutrients. Real fruit has been introduced, and higher-protein and vegan options have been added. Lee also researched soft-serve machine technology, calibrating settings for individual recipes. The brand worked with local creative studio Parable Studio on its rebranding. Lee says the brand learned from past over-expansion and now aims to grow more carefully. She notes the global froyo resurgence is driven by a culture of small indulgences, growing interest in protein and gut health, and younger consumers seeking social spaces beyond bars and nightlife.
What’s new at the Holland Village flagship
The 102-seat store offers up to 10 froyo flavours including returning favourites and new vegan options. The store takes over the space formerly housing Plain Meredith cafe at unit 02-23/24, 7 Holland Village Way. It will operate on a pay-by-weight model, though prices are not yet confirmed. The menu will feature a rotating selection of up to ten flavours.
Customers, referred to as 'Sofans', can pick their own fixings at a central toppings 'stage'. Toppings include passionfruit and grape popping boba, Biscoff crumble, salted caramel pretzel crunch, and pistachio kunafa. Holland Village was chosen because it is where Sogurt’s 'original tribe' started. The space has a pet-friendly alfresco terrace and is intended as a platform for pop-ups and community gatherings.
Community and culture at the core
The revival taps into a global frozen yogurt resurgence driven by demand for protein-rich indulgences and social spaces. Lee says the brand is joining this revival with a social, community-focused space. She cites Australian froyo chain Yo-Chi as an example of expansion in the current resurgence. The store is designed for creative collaborations with music, art, and entertainment. Sogurt started dropping hints about its return about a month before the official announcement. In a social media video in September 2026, Lee posted a tribute to Sogirls, the brand's original staff. For the first time in a very long time, we are looking for Sogirls again, she said, adding that the brand is now recruiting Sobros as well.
Hoarding goes up on October 15 for Sofans to peel off stickers to uncover flavour and topping reveals and receive giveaways.
