Australian ingredient company Nourish Ingredients has completed a 10-tonne industrial production run of its animal-free dairy lipid, Creamilux. The run was conducted at the Netherlands facility of its new lead European production partner, SD Guthrie International Speciality Ingredients B.V.

Creamilux is designed to mimic the mouthfeel and functionality of traditional dairy fats. It is produced using precision fermentation and enzymatic processing. The ingredient was first introduced in early 2024.

A strategic partnership for scale

James Petrie, CEO and Co-founder of Nourish Ingredients, stated that SD Guthrie International was selected for its expertise in lecithins, technical capabilities, and established European infrastructure. "They immediately understood the potential of Creamilux® and were enthusiastic about bringing it to market," Petrie said. He described the partnership as providing "a low-risk, straightforward path to scale," noting the first production run was finished in just days.

Volumes tied to customer pipeline

The companies plan to increase production in direct response to market demand. Their stated goal is to reach annual output volumes in the hundreds of tonnes. Over the coming year, the focus will be on converting customer trials into formal commercial sales and offtake agreements.

Anna El Tahchy, CTO and Founding Director at Nourish Ingredients, called the 10-tonne run a key step in process validation and market seeding. She projected a rapid scale-up to 100 tonnes per year as demand builds, followed by expansion to 500 tonnes and more within two to three years.

An asset-light commercial model

This deal mirrors the commercial strategy Nourish Ingredients used for Tastilux, its fermented fat for meat alternatives. For that product, Chinese partner Cabio Biotech executed the first commercial run in April 2025. Nourish Ingredients reported that move increased Tastilux production capacity by 1,700%. Tastilux achieved FEMA GRAS status in the United States in August 2025.

The agreement with SD Guthrie International extends beyond manufacturing. The Dutch firm will also assist with distribution and business development for both Creamilux and Tastilux through its existing customer network.

Amirul Hakim Noor Haizat, General Manager of SD Guthrie International Speciality Ingredients B.V., commented on the broader opportunity. He indicated the partnership allows them to help accelerate the development and commercialisation of next-generation food products.
