Beyond Meat has launched a new range of plant-based products called Phytosphere. The portfolio includes its first-ever protein powders, a new line of jerky, and whole-food veggie burgers, all available through its direct-to-consumer website.

A Beyond Meat spokesperson explained the thinking to Green Queen. "The name 'Phytosphere' comes from the Greek words 'phyton', meaning 'plant', and 'sphaira', meaning 'sphere' or 'world'," they said. "It represents a world where people can access the extraordinary nutrition of plants."

Protein Powders and Sparkling Drinks Offer Variety

Two key products are part of the Beyond Star Series. The Starmatter line is the company's first protein powder. Each 37-gram scoop provides 20 grams of pea protein and 5 grams of fibre. The powders also contain probiotics, polyphenol extracts, plant sterols, biotin, adaptogenic mushrooms, vitamins, and minerals. They come in several flavours.

The company is also continuing with its Beyond Immerse sparkling protein drinks, which are now part of the Phytosphere range. The spokesperson said each format serves a different purpose. "Beyond Immerse is a ready-to-drink, light and refreshing sparkling protein beverage, while Beyond Starmatter is a nutrient-boosted protein powder," they noted. The company recently added new agave-sweetened versions to the Immerse line.

A New Take on Plant-Based Jerky

The other product in the Star Series is Starcut jerky. This marks Beyond Meat's return to the jerky category after discontinuing a previous version in 2024. The new product is not designed to mimic beef but acts as a nutrition-focused savoury bar made from peas, fava beans, and mycelium. It contains 17 grams of protein and 3 grams of fibre per serving, with no added sugar.

The jerky is available in three flavours and two pack sizes.

The Starmatter and Starcut products feature new midnight blue packaging, a departure from the company's signature green. Beyond Meat says the design is inspired by the night sky and reflects the stellar origin of nutritional elements.

Whole-Food Veggie Burgers Join the Line

Beyond Meat is also introducing its first veggie burgers under the Beyond Veggie name. The company insists this is an expansion, not a shift away from its core meat alternatives. "Consumers come to plants with different tastes, nutritional priorities, and meal occasions in mind," the spokesperson stated.

The patties combine more than ten fruits, vegetables, legumes, and seeds with pea and potato protein. They are offered in two varieties and contain polyphenol-rich extracts and plant sterols. Each 100-gram burger provides 12 grams of protein and 6 grams of fibre, alongside iron, potassium, and magnesium.

The company says these burgers join other centre-of-plate products in the Phytosphere range, including a mycelium-based steak filet and fava-bean-based ground product. Beyond Meat's earlier whole-food offering, the Sun Sausage line launched in 2024, also remains part of its portfolio.

The broader launch comes as consumer interest in protein and fibre increases. The company cites data showing 57% of Americans plan to prioritise protein this year. How people consume it varies, with surveys indicating only 13% prefer getting protein from powders or shakes, while 55% prefer whole foods.
